Five check-ins families actually use

A check-in is a status you send to the whole family in one tap: Safe, Arrived, Leaving or Need help, with an optional note and your location. Here are the five moments families tell us they use them most.

1. After practice or a late shift

“Safe” with a note like “practice ran late” answers the question before anyone asks it.

2. Arriving somewhere new

Saved places send alerts automatically, but a sleepover or a friend’s house isn’t a saved place. “Arrived” with your location covers it.

3. Heading home

“Leaving” tells everyone to expect you, and anyone can open the map to see how close you are.

4. When a parent asks

From someone’s card on the map, tap Check in to send a gentle nudge to the family chat. It’s friendlier than a missed call.

5. When it isn’t okay

“Need help” says “please call me”. For anything urgent, hold SOS for two seconds: everyone sees it with your location. FamSpot never calls emergency services, so call your local emergency number first in a real emergency.
