Terms of use

The rules for using FamSpot, kept as short and plain as we could.

Last updated October 22, 2026

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Essential Dev Team about FamSpot. By using FamSpot you agree to them and to our privacy policy. Because you get FamSpot from the App Store, Apple’s Standard EULA also applies; if the two conflict, these terms apply where the EULA allows.

Who can use FamSpot

You must be at least 13, or the age of digital consent where you live, to create an account. Younger children may use FamSpot only as part of a family set up by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for their use.

FamSpot is not an emergency service

SOS, check-ins, arrival alerts and the safety log notify your family inside the app only. They do not contact emergency services, and they can be delayed or fail because of network coverage, device settings, permissions, battery saving or other reasons. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Do not rely on FamSpot where a missed alert could cause harm.

Location accuracy

Locations come from each device’s location services and may be inaccurate, delayed or unavailable. Safety detection is based on motion sensors and can miss events or report ones that didn’t happen. Treat all information in FamSpot as helpful guidance, not as a guarantee.

Your account

Keep your password safe and tell us if you think your account has been misused. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account in Settings at any time.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post, such as messages, photos and check-ins. You give us permission to store and show it to the people you share it with, only to run FamSpot. Don’t post anything illegal, abusive or that infringes someone else’s rights.

Premium and add-ons

  • FamSpot Premium and the Chat, History and Chores add-ons are auto-renewing subscriptions sold through the App Store.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • A free trial, when offered, turns into a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel before then. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • Manage or cancel in your Apple Account subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
  • We may change prices or features; existing subscribers will be told in advance as the App Store requires.

Acceptable use

Don’t try to access other families’ data, reverse engineer or overload the service, use it to send spam, or resell it. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

Our rights

FamSpot, its design and its software belong to Essential Dev Team and its licensors. Fonts and open-source components are used under their licences, listed in the app under Settings ▸ Help ▸ Licenses & credits.

Disclaimers and liability

FamSpot is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on location, alerts or safety features. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for FamSpot in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; if a change is significant we’ll tell you in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise. Questions? Email essentialdevteam@gmail.com.
