Set up places that matter in two minutes

Places turn the map into something that tells you things. Here’s the quickest setup.

Save a place

On the map, pull up the sheet and tap + Add next to Places. Search for an address, give it a name like Home or School, pick an icon and tap Save place. Everyone in the family can see saved places.

Choose who you hear about

Open Settings ▸ Arrival alerts. For each person, choose Arrives, Leaves or both, for all places or just one. You can also tap someone on the map and use the Notify me switches.

Make it work in the background

Alerts come from the other person’s phone, so their FamSpot needs location access set to Always and notifications turned on for you. FamSpot asks for both, but it’s worth a quick check in iPhone Settings.

That’s it. The next time someone gets to school, you’ll know without asking.
